Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE):

Introduction: 
The service sector plays a crucial role in the Indian economy and has become India’s most powerful growth engine in the past few decades. The contribution of service sector is maximum in the country’s GDP. While unincorporated service sector is covered in the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) conducted by National Statistics Office (NSO), regular data pertaining to detailed economic and operational characteristics, employment, etc. are not available with industry-wise or State/UT-wise break-up for the incorporated service sector. To address this data gap, it was felt necessary to build a comprehensive database of corporate service sector enterprises with the desired level of granularity through a regular annual survey. This prompted NSO to launch the Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) dedicated to the sector. 

Objective: 
The principal objective of Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) is to develop a comprehensive database of the corporate service sector of the country. Given the importance of this sector, it is imperative that a survey may be designed to capture the key characteristics such as gross value added (GVA), fixed capital, capital formation, employment, emoluments paid and other important features pertaining to the units belonging to the sector not only at State level but also at different industry level. The ASISSE has been designed exclusively for this purpose to cover the corporate part of service sector. ASISSE will essentially be conducted following an (GSTN based) enterprise approach. 

Sampling Frame: 
The Goods and Tax Network (GSTN) database is proposed to be used as the sampling frame of the survey. 

Coverage: 
The coverage of ASISSE is essentially the corporate entities i.e. entities registered under Companies Act, 1956 or Companies Act, 2013 or Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act, 2008 and belonging to service sector. Unincorporated entities are excluded from coverage of ASISSE. 

1- Geographically, ASISSE will cover the whole of the Indian Union. Hence, all the State/UTs are covered in the survey. 
2- Business type-wise, corporate entities like, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP), Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, Public Sector Undertakings, Unlimited Companies etc. are included in the survey coverage. 

Reference Period: 
The reference period or accounting period of ASISSE is the Financial Year 2024-2025 (FY 2024-25), i.e. covering the period from April, 2024 to March, 2025. 

Proposed Survey Period: The field work for the survey will commence from April, 2026. The survey will be carried out under the aegis of the Collection of Statistics Act 2008 and the Rules framed thereunder.
